She found me through a post I wrote about Farmer’s Market (see here) and found that we many things in common (early years in Africa, we could hold an hour-long conversation on GMOs and why the world needs to eat Organic, composting and other general life issues).

We are so grateful to have this beauty (inside and out) as a friend.

Your adventurous soul inspires me, friend.

This was SO much fun!

Vini is my dear dear friend from college. I’m quite bad at describing how I felt or what I thought upon first meeting a person but I have a picture of it in my head and it’s a happy picture. Happy was the day I met Vini :)

Happy also was this day:

Krishnappa Garden,
Bangalore

I finally got hold of my neighbourhood friend today to give him his photographs that I got printed out last week. He’s been rather elusive lately. I’d hear his voice or his whistle (apparently one of his favourite toys) but by the time I’d get out, he’d be gone. I even went looking for him a couple of times but to no avail. Anyway, this evening, after it rained, I went out with my camera to the garden and I finally caught cycling past our house. I called him over and gave him the pictures and he was pretty happy and his brother/friend (not sure!) and him both wanted a picture together so I obliged. Shiva then asked if he could have a go so I strapped my camera around his neck and this time remembered to change the settings to minimize the effect of camera-shake and he took two or three shots.

Here are Shiva’s pictures in monochrome:

The funny thing was, after he took the pics, I showed them to him on the LCD screen and he quickly picked up how to browse to see the rest of the images on my camera so pretty soon we were looking through some of my pictures and this boy, who barely speaks a word of English exclaims, “Wow!” It was pretty sweet! Peeps, that’s a compliment I will never forget.

Here is Shiva (on the right) with his brother/friend:

And proudly showing off his photograph:

Bangalore

Meet Rod and Diana, my two very good friends from Ooty. I met these two back in 2011 when I started my short stint with Freedom Firm. The very first activity that we did together was to watch Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara at Ooty’s one and only movie theater – Assembly Rooms. I was the only Hindi speaker in the group, so I played the role of translator through the film! Thankfully I’d seen the movie already though so it wasn’t too hard.
A few days after that I had my first ‘Thursday night dinner’ at Rod and Diana’s. Jen, my roommate and fellow volunteer at Freedom Firm, and I made our way to their place, and that was the day that it dawned on me… oh my word, I love these two awesome people!

The love grew pretty consistently over the next three months that Jen and I were there. Thursday nights were the highlight of our week, dinners soon turned into sleepovers, and before we knew it we were hanging out almost every day!
As you can imagine it was pretty rough having to say goodbye to these lovely friends when my time with Freedom Firm came to an end and so it was my absolute delight to have Rod and Di come stay with me in Bangalore this past weekend. We didn’t do a whole lot but just chatted late into the night and had some great and much needed conversation about life and everything. What more could I ask for?
Rod and Di, I love you guys! I am always blessed by our conversations and can’t wait to do this again!
