Photobooks – Tina Nandi Photography http://www.tinanandi.com Tina Nandi is an independent photographer and blogger. Yes, they’re all on Facebook and every other social media platform you can think of but screens don’t even come close to actual pages of a book. I also have the fear that someday one of my hard disks is going to crash and I will lose everything!
So I resolved to have our photos printed and started working on this book a couple of months ago. I decided to order it through Artifact Uprising because I haven’t yet come across an Indian photobook company that offered what I was looking for. Simple, softcover books with non-glossy paper and an easy-enough online designing software and printing service. I love their mission and also the fact that they print on 100% Post Consumer Waste Recycled Paper.
In general, I’m not that good at remembering to take personal photos but now that I know I will make books of our photos every one or two years, it reminds me to capture those celebrations and special times with friends and family and our travels. It reminds me that it’s worth keeping a visual record of this life that we are so grateful for…

#TBT: Back when we got married. http://www.tinanandi.com/archives/2414 http://www.tinanandi.com/archives/2414#comments Thu, 22 May 2014 04:30:18 +0000 http://www.tinanandi.com/?p=2414 This week, I’ve been working (finally) on our own wedding photobook. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you probably know that I am a HUGE proponent of printing your wedding photos (see here and here). So I’m taking my own advice and GETTING THIS DONE. I believe that 20 years from now, our generation will really really regret never having printed their photos. There will be this sudden ‘black hole’ in our photo-memories (that sit on our shelves, NOT on Facebook) and we’ll have nothing to show our kids. As a child, I loved browsing through my parents photo-albums. It’s so fascinating to see what they looked like, the clothes they wore, the fun things they did before my brother and I came crashing into their lives and brought with that the responsibilities of parenthood, the fun things they did with us, the places we traveled, the birthday parties and other milestones. I find myself using that as a guide when I design photobooks nowadays. 20 years from now, what do I want to be able to show my kids (or my clients’ kids)?

Here are some of the photos that are definitely going into our wedding book and the conversation that I like to imagine might transpire someday many years from now while our kids flip through this book…

ROBTINA (189)

Wow! Didu looks soooooo pretty!!

ROBTINA (307)

What great light! Good choice insisting that the wedding be outside around sunset, Ma! (Obviously our children will understand the value of natural light to Photography.)

ROBTINA (628)

What did Dadu say in his speech???

ROBTINA (562)

Wow, Grandpa is SO TALL! And Grandma looks SO pretty in a saree!

ROBTINA (576)

You all look so young and stylish!

ROBTINA (752)

Uncle WILBURRRRRRRR!  WE LOVE UNCLE WILBURRRRRR!!!

ROBTINA (967)

Can you show us the surprise dance that you did?

ROBTINA (1129)

Ewwwww, you’re kissing!

ROBTINA (1155)

Why are you all wearing those funny things??

Many thanks to George Seemon and Sharan Ranjit for making these wonderful photos for us!

Photobooks: Wedding Photos You Can Hold http://www.tinanandi.com/archives/2080 http://www.tinanandi.com/archives/2080#respond Thu, 03 Apr 2014 04:25:18 +0000 http://www.tinanandi.com/?p=2080 I’m a big advocate for printing your wedding photos. The digital age is great. And fast. And convenient. But so much of our lives are spent in front of a computer screen – no matter what your job is – that once in a while it’s good to sit on your couch, pull a book off the bookshelf and browse through… actual pages. Here’s a sneak peek at a book I had printed for Fajr + Faiz, my wonderful clients whose wedding I shot in Bangalore back in January (you can see their wedding photos here: Part 1, and Part 2 is coming!). Wouldn’t that be nice. http://www.tinanandi.com/archives/466 http://www.tinanandi.com/archives/466#comments Sat, 09 Feb 2013 13:43:00 +0000 http://66.147.244.79/~tinanand/2013/02/09/wouldnt-that-be-nice/
Hello world!
I know it has been really silent around here. I have great plans of coming back to this blogging world with somewhat regularity soon. There are many stories to tell. Many life-lessons that I’ve been learning to share but finding some quiet space and time to write has been a challenge lately.
Anyway, in the meantime, just wanted to share one exciting development with TNP! I am starting to design Wedding Coffee Table Books!! I’ve been wanting to do this pretty much as long as I’ve been wanting to do Wedding Photography (which is a long time!)
It’s such a joy to see my images in print! There’s just nothing like actually flipping through a physical book of photographs. For as long as I can remember I have always loved going through our family albums and the old, musty albums in my grand-mom’s house in Bombay. Pictures from a time before I was born with so many stories revolving around them.
Kate Anderson says it well, “Printed books never become obsolete, technology does”.
And so my earnest hope is that in our day of iPads, Internet, Hard drives, Kindles, Cloud computing, etc etc, we will invest in preserving our memories in actual print. Something that we can hold in our hands. Something that our grand kids will one day pull out of the closet like a piece of treasure. And they will settle themselves in our laps and flip through the book, asking us lots of questions, laughing at our expressions and our sense of fashion and marveling at how young we once were!
Wouldn’t that be nice.
